Round and Round

















My current summer read about the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893 lit a spark of enthusiasm about the Ferris Wheel. Not knowing its origins, it was fascinating to read that engineers across the U.S. were encouraged to design something to rival the Eiffel Tower, and George Ferris did just that, the Ferris Wheel.

How curious revelers must have been to see this monstrous wheel of steel, which to this day is always the first sign of amusements...
